What a great post. I enjoyed reading this a lot.

Jen, It’s RLS’s, I remember reading this text some 10 years ago in Russian. I was a huge fan of Treasure Islands and RLS then and read these thoughts of his 20 times I think. Reading it in English now gave me a weird feeling: the text seems new but at the same time you know it. Also, nostalgie, a nice feeling.

I read dozens of classics of world literature before I went to school. Treasure Island was the only one I didn’t make through. It’s been two decades so I can’t remember what was the problem, but I guess it was too boring.
